Thank you for visiting our school website. We hope that you can use it to find all the information you need about our happy and successful school. We also hope that you will enjoy sharing and celebrating the achievements of our pupils and the work of our amazing team.
We maintain our website ourselves and have tried to design it to give you a thorough understanding of what we do as well as provide regular updates for members of our community. We welcome feedback and would value your views on how we can continue to develop and improve the site for everyone who views and uses it.
A widely recognised nurture school with an unrelenting focus on safety, enjoyment and pupil progress
Working together with pupils, families and professionals, we are determined to shape pupils who are:
Confident individuals – who lead safe, healthy and fulfilling lives
Successful learners – who enjoy school, make great progress and achieve relevant qualifications
Responsible citizens – who are ready and able to make a productive contribution to society
We value respect, perseverance, cooperation and responsibility. These values are reflected in our Ways of Working.
Find out how we demonstrate these values by heading to Twitter and searching for the hashtag #JNAValues.

On behalf of our governors, our staff and our pupils it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the Joseph Norton Academy website. Our website is very important to us. We use it to celebrate the fantastic work that goes on at our school and to share important information about our policies, practice and procedures.
We are extremely proud of our school. We provide a happy, safe and secure environment where learning is enjoyable and teaching is shaped by the needs and interests of our pupils. If you require any more information, please get in touch. We look forward to hearing from you.
At Joseph Norton we believe that every child deserves the best possible education to enable them to make good progress and realise their potential.
As a team we want every child to leave school having developed a love of learning and with the skills and self-confidence needed to help them succeed in further education, training, employment and post-school life.
We aim to build partnerships with parents, carers and children that are based on honesty, trust and mutual respect with the purpose of supporting the academic, vocational, personal and emotional development of our pupils.
Nestled between the villages of Scissett and Skelmanthorpe, our school is set in approximately six acres of attractive grounds.
Beautiful in winter and summer alike, we value our rural location and enjoy the 'great outdoors' whenever we are able. For visitors, our school is easily accessible from Huddersfield, Wakefield, Leeds and Barnsley, with good rail and road links, including easy access to the M1, A1(M) and M62.
